A novel family planning method for women – counting beads

It’s simple, inexpensive and non-clinical. The country’s largest condom manufacturer, HLL Lifecare Ltd (HLL), has now come out with a family formulation process for women that usually requires them to count beads. Called Cyclebeads, it is a colour-coded fibre of beads that represents a days of a woman’s menstrual cycle. A lady simply has to pierce a ring over a beads to lane any day of her cycle. The colour of a beads lets her know either she is on a day when she can conceive. The product has an ex-factory cost of Rs.50. 

Developed by researchers during Georgetown University’s Institute for Reproductive Health, Cyclebeads is formed on a Standard Days Method (SDM) and is really effective in preventing random pregnancies. The process is designed for women with cycles between 26 and 32 days. A lady has to put a rubber ring on a red stone a day she starts her period. Each day she moves a ring by one bead. If a ring is on a red or dim bead, there is small probability of pregnancy and so a day is protected for intercourse.

If a ring is on a white stone — days 8 by 19 — there is a high probability of apropos profound with defenceless intercourse. Cyclebeads are made and distributed in a nation by an agreement between HLL and Cycle Technologies (US), a strange licensee.
