Ganesh Chaturthi 2014: Puran Poli with jaggery (Sweet Flatten roti) recipe

puran poliIngredients for a puran reduction – honeyed filling:


1 crater powdered jaggery/gur


1 crater chana dal/ spilt bengal gram


3 cups H2O for vigour cooking a chana dal


2 tsp ghee


1 tsp fennel powder/saunf


¾ to 1 tsp dry ginger powder/saunth


½ tsp cardamom powder


¼ tsp nutmeg powder/ jaiphal powder


Ingredients for a poli – outdoor covering:


2 cups whole wheat flour/atta +


1 tsp oil or ghee


½ tsp salt or as required


Water as compulsory to stimulate a dough


Ghee as compulsory for frying a puran poli


Method for scheming a puran:


  1. Rinse a chana dal initial really good in H2O and soak for 30 mins to one hour and afterwards empty a water.

  2. Pressure prepare a chana dal for 4 to 5 whistles. If we soak a chana dal, a cooking time will be reduced. Once a vigour settles down on a own, aria a baked dal. The dal has to be stretched well.

  3. Heat ghee in a vessel and supplement a dry ginger powder, nutmeg powder, cardamom powder and fennel powder. saute for a few seconds.

Method for creation a puran poli:

Notes
